Cinderella

Ein Märchen, das wir alle kennen und lieben: Das unscheinbare Aschenputtel wird von ihren eitlen Stiefschwestern und der tyrannischen Stiefmutter herumkommandiert, sie muss die Schmutzarbeit erledigen, und als Schlafplatz bleibt ihr nur die Asche neben dem Herd. Ihr einziger Wunsch ist es, den Ball des Prinzen zu besuchen, doch die Stiefmutter verbietet es ihr und schließt sie ein. Traurig schläft Cinderella ein und findet sich plötzlich doch auf dem Ball des Prinzen wieder, der nur Augen für sie hat.
Sergej Prokofjew verwandelte die Geschichte in eine vielschichtige Ballettmusik - gespielt vom Philharmonischen Orchester Augsburg -, in der er jeder Figur eine ganz eigene, charakteristische Gestalt verleiht. Sein Werk entstand im Auftrag des berühmten Kirow-Theaters in St. Petersburg und erlangte seinen internationalen Durchbruch 1948 mit Frederick Ashtons Version unter dem Titel Cinderella.
Mauro de Candia, ehemaliger Solotänzer bei Stephan Thoss und nun anerkannter Choreograf, erzählt in seiner abendfüllenden phantasievollen Tanzkreation die klassische Märchenhandlung. Am Ende verliebt sich natürlich der Prinz in die geheimnisvolle Fremde, mit der er die ganze Nacht tanzt - bevor es allerdings ein Happy-End für die beiden gibt, müssen sie noch eine schwierige Prüfung bestehen...


It is the classic fairy tale we all know and love: the inconspicuous and gentle Cinderella who suffers at the hands of her bossy and vain stepsisters and their tyrannical stepmother. Cinderella is left to do all the work with only the ashes next to the stove as her bed. Meanwhile her greatest wish is to attend the Royal ball in the prince's palace, which of course her mean-hearted stepmother will not allow, and instead leaves her locked in at home as they all depart.
Sad and broken-hearted, Cinderella falls asleep; suddenly to find herself in the middle of the celebrations, dancing with the prince... who only has eyes for her!
Sergej Prokofjew transformed this beloved tale into a complex score for ballet - played by the Philharmonic Orchestra Augsburg - in which he gives each figure its very own character and theme. The ballet was originally commissioned on behalf of the prestigious Kirov Theatre in St. Petersburg, and obtained its international success with the famous Frederick Ashton version for the Royal Ballet.
Mauro de Candia, former soloist with Stephan Thoss and meanwhile an accomplished and prize winning choreographer, recreates the fairytale story in this feature-length evening of dance and fantasy. In the end, the prince and the mysterious and beautiful stranger with whom he has been dancing all night long fall in love. But before they find their happy end, they have to find each other...
